PAMPHYLIA, Side. Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ (30mm, 14.93 g, 12h). Laurate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind; c/m: Є (mark of value) in circular incuse / River-god Melas reclining left, holding agonistic prize crown with two palm fronds in right hand, reed in left; resting on urn from which water flows. RPC VI Online 6416.3 (this coin); SNG BN –; SNG Pfälzer –. For c/m: Howgego 803. Red-brown surfaces, pitting (or uncertain c/m) on obverse, overall light porosity. Good Fine. Very rare, only three known to RPC, including this coin.
