Marius. Romano-Gallic Emperor, A.D. 269. Æ antoninianus. 2.94 gm. 19 mm. Colonia Agrippinensis (Cologne) mint. His radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right; IMP C M AVR MARIVS AVG / Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm frond; VICTORIA AVG. RIC V.2 17. Good Very Fine; dark brown patina with some red; well centered; some old cleaning marks on reverse. Rare.

A former blacksmith, Marius was supposedly killed by a sword he himself had made.
