Lot description: THESSALY, Larissa. Circa 460-450 BC. AR Drachm (22mm, 5.85 g, 3h). The hero Thessalos, petasos hanging from neck, restraining with band he holds in both hands a bull rearing right; lotus flower below / Horse prancing left, trailing rein; Λ-A-RI around; all within incuse square. Lorber, Thessalian 9 var. (no flower); BCD Thessaly II 152 (this coin); Herrmann Group III B, pl. I, 22 (same obv. die); HGC 4, 411 (this coin illustrated); Triton XIII, lot 1127 (same dies).
