Lot description: PISIDIA, Termessus Major. Antonine Era. circa AD 138-192. Æ (14mm, 2.83 g, 5h). TEP, bareheaded and draped bust of Hermes right, caduceus over shoulder / [TΩN] MЄIZO[NΩN], Hermes(?) standing left, holding purse(?) and caduceus(?). Unpublished. Earthen brown patina, reverse off center. Near VF. Very rare. From the Aleph Collection. The reverse pose is typical for Hermes but neither the purse or caduceus is clear on this specimen. Even if it is Hermes, the type is not published in RPC or other major references. Estimate: 100 USD |
