Lot description: BITHYNIA, Heraclaea Pontica. temp. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ (36.5mm, 24.20 g, 1h). TON KIⳞTAN, bearded bust of Herakles right, lion's skin tied around neck / [HPAKΛ]EΩTA[N ΠONTΩ], Herakles advancing right, head left, holding club and lion's skin, commanding Cerberus on leash to left; to right; statue of Pomona(?) standing left, holding apple and grain ears; to left, tree. Unpublished but cf. RPC 2092 for same reverse type (probably the same reverse die) but different Herakles on the obverse. Earthen green patina, deposits, cleaning marks, pierced twice. Fine.
