Lot description:

Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, Ptolemy VI with Kleopatra II(?) Æ 15mm. Kyrene, circa 168-163 BC. [ΒΑΣ]ΙΛΙΣΣΗΣ ΚΛΕ[ΟΠΑΤΑΣ], diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around neck / [unclear legend], draped bust of Libya to right, wearing tainia. Unpublished in the standard references. 2.81g, 15mm, 12h.

Very Fine. Apparently the second known of this unpublished type.

An example is listed as unique and unpublished on the PtolemAE Project site. It is argued there that the type is linked to the Alexandria issues naming the queen Kleopatra and proposes a new date for these coins of between 168-163 BC.

Estimate: 50 GBP
