| Lot description: LAKONIA. Lakedaimon (Sparta). Circa 48-35 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.58 g, 1 h). Diademed and draped bust of Lakedaimon to right. Rev. Λ-A Eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, monogram; to right, ΦI. BCD Peloponnesos -. Grunauer XVI, 1, 15 (same dies). HGC 5, 630 var. (monogram). Attractive dark green patina. Minor pitting, otherwise, very fine. From the Dr. Paul Peter Urone Collection, acquired from Harlan J. Berk, whose experts identified it as coming from Laos in Lucania (!).
