Michael VIII Palaeologus, 1261-1282. Trachy (Bronze, 21 mm, 1.89 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. Archangel Michael standing facing, nimbate, holding patriachal cross in his right hand and trilobate scepter in his left; to lower left, Φ; to lower right, B. Rev. Michael VIII seated facing on throne, wearing crown with pendilia and loros; holding cruciform scepter in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; to left, X and Δ. Naumann E-Auction 61 (2018), 830. SB -. Extremely rare. Harshly cleaned and with a flan crack, otherwise, very fine.

Half-length figures of Michael VIII on the left, wearing crown and loros and holding cruciform scepter in his right hand, and St. Demetrius on the right, nimbate, in military attire and holding spear in his left hand; both holding between them cross in circle on staff. DOC 147. SB 2297. Struck from somewhat worn dies, otherwise, very fine.

Michael VIII seated facing on high-backed throne, wearing crown and loros, holding sword on his knees with both hands; to uper left and right, X and other letters. SB 2275. Repatinated and with some edge cracks, otherwise, very fine.

Nude warrior on horseback to left, holding bridles in his right hand and carrying small round shield in his left; to left, Nike standing facing, restraining horse with both hands; below [ΛΥΚΙΣΚΟΣ]. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Youthful oikist riding dolphin to left, holding round shield inscribed with Ε with his left hand and extending his right; to left, ΖΟΡ; below, waves to left. HN Italy 963. Vlasto 679-682. Beautifully toned and of fine style. Minor horn silver on the obverse and light porosity on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
