Michael VIII Palaeologus, 1261-1282. Trachy (Bronze, 21 mm, 1.89 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. Archangel Michael standing facing, nimbate, holding patriachal cross in his right hand and trilobate scepter in his left; to lower left, Φ; to lower right, B. Rev. Michael VIII seated facing on throne, wearing crown with pendilia and loros; holding cruciform scepter in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; to left, X and Δ. Naumann E-Auction 61 (2018), 830. SB -. Extremely rare. Harshly cleaned and with a flan crack, otherwise, very fine.
