| Lot description: Michael VIII Palaeologus, 1261-1282. Trachy (Bronze, 26 mm, 3.52 g, 6 h), Thessalonica. Archangel Michael standing facing, nimbate, holding labarum in his right hand and sword in his left. Rev. Half-length figures of Michael VIII on the left, wearing crown and loros and holding cruciform scepter in his right hand, and St. Demetrius on the right, nimbate, in military attire and holding spear in his left hand; both holding between them cross in circle on staff.
