| Lot description: Crispus, Caesar, 316-326. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 2.46 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Arelate, irregular mint, after 321. CRISPVS NOB CAES Laureate head of Crispus to right. Rev. D N CONSTANTINI MAX AV / P(crescent)A around wreath containing VOT / XX in two lines. Cf. RIC 233 and 235 (for prototype). Minor roughness and the obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine. From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969. This 'barbarous' imitation is a mule, with an obverse for Constantine I copying RIC 233 (Arelate), and a reverse for Crispus copying RIC 235 (Arelate). Starting price: 25 CHF |  |
