Mark Antony and Octavian. Denarius (Silver, 21 mm, 3.85 g, 6 h), L. Gellius Poplicola, quaestor pro praetore, military mint moving with Antony in Asia Minor, 41. M•ANT•IMP•AVG•III•VIR•R•P•C•L•GELL•Q•P• Bare head of Mark Antony to right; behind, jug. Rev. CAESAR•IMP•PONT•III•VIR•R•P•[C] Bare head of Octavian to right; behind, lituus. Babelon (Antonia) 54 and (Gellia) 8. Crawford 517/8. RBW 1800. Sydenham 1188. A beautiful piece struck on a broad flan, very attractively toned and with two particularly fine portrait. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with minor flan faults on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
