L. Papius Celsus, 45 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 4.08 g, 6 h), Rome. TRIVMPVS Laureate head of Triumphus to right; behind, trophy. Rev. CELSVS•III•VIR / L•PAPIVS She-wolf standing right, placing stick on fire, and eagle standing left, fanning the flames with his wings. Babelon (Papia) 3. Crawford 472/2. CRI 83. RBW 1649. Sydenham 965. Well centered and lightly toned. Small cut on the obverse and with graffiti on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
