Cn. Gellius, 138 BC. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.90 g, 9 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind, X (mark of value); all within laurel wreath. Rev. CN•GEL / ROMA Helmeted warrior in quadriga to right, grasping captive with his right hand and holding shield in his left. Babelon (Gellia) 1. Crawford 232/1. RBW 962. Sydenham 434. Nicely toned and with an attractive obverse. Some light scratches and with a minor flan fault on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
