Publius Calpurnius, 133 BC. Denarius (Silver, 21 mm, 3.90 g, 9 h), Rome. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet, pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind, star (mark of value). Rev. P•CALP / ROMA Venus driving galloping biga to right, holding reins in her right hand and whip in her left; above, Victory flying left, crowning Venus with wreath; on the flank of the nearer horse, a star. Babelon (Calpurnia) 2. Crawford 247/1. RBW 1017. Sydenham 468. Lightly toned and with a beautiful obverse. Surface crack on the obverse and the reverse a bit rough, otherwise, extremely fine.
