INDIA, Post-Mauryan (Punjab). Taxila (local coinage). Circa 2nd century BC. Karshapana (Bronze, 23 mm, 9.18 g). 'VATASVAKA' (in Brahmi) Three-arched hill surmounted by crescent in center; to right, female adorant or deity standing to left, extending hands toward the crescent; below, pelleted hill. Rev. Blank. MACW 4431. MIG 588. Extremely rare. About very fine.

This interesting type was issued around the time of the Indo-Greek King Agathokles. Vatasvaka was probably a local ruler of Taxila and/or an Indo-Greek vassal.
