PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy VI Philometor, first reign, 180-164 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 10.82 g, 12 h), uncertain mint on Cyprus (Arsinoe?), year 91 of an uncertain era = 172/1. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around neck. Rev. ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; to left, monogram of P and A. C. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt. Cf. Noekse 193, SNG Copenhagen 262-8 and Svoronos 1489 (for prototype). Flan crack and with minor breaks in plating on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
