KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 17 mm, 8.61 g, 11 h), Abydos, struck under Leonnatos, Philip III Arrhidaios, or Antigonos I Monophthalmos, 323-317. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY Charioteer driving biga to right, holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below horses, cornucopiae and monogram of ΔΟY. Le Rider -. SNG ANS -, cf. 295 (differing poition of controls on reverse). Thompson, ADM II, 74 = SNG München 90 (same dies). Extremely rare. Lustrous and attractive. Struck on a slightly short flan, otherwise, extremely fine.
