MACEDON. Akanthos. Circa 470-430 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.28 g, 5 h). Lion to right, attacking a bull collapsing to left with head raised; in exergue, tunny swimming to left. Rev. ΑΚΑ-Ν-ΘΙΟ-Ν Raised quadripartite square surrounded by inscription; all within shallow incuse square. Desneux - (-/R86). HGC 3.1, 385. Roma XIII (2017), 148 (same dies). A sharply struck and perfectly centered example with a wonderful lion's mane. Very minor die rust and light doubling on the obverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
