| Lot description: SICILY. Leontini. Circa 450-440 BC. Hemilitron (Silver, 10 mm, 0.37 g, 12 h). ΛEON Head of a lion with open jaws to right. Rev. Λ-E Barley grain; to left and right, three pellets. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte, 69 var. (no legend on the obverse). HGC 2, 699 var. (same). SNG ANS 1344 var. (no ethnikon on the reverse). Very rare. Some horn silver and minor traces of corrosion, otherwise, about extremely fine. Ex Leu Web Auction 27, 9-11 September 2023, 147 and previously from a European collection, formed before 2005.
