CALABRIA. Tarentum. temp. Pyrrhos of Epeiros, circa 276-272 BC. 1/10 Stater (Gold, 9 mm, 0.86 g, 8 h). Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. TAPAΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, holding kantharos in his right hand and trident in his left. Fischer-Bossert G34i' (V30/R34) = Vlasto 43 (this coin). HN Italy 992. SNG ANS 1041 (same dies). SNG Paris 1852-4 (same dies). An attractive example with a very old and illustrious pedigree. Some marks and small scratches, otherwise, very fine.
