MIDDLE DANUBE. Uncertain tribe. 2nd century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 11.19 g, 3 h), 'Zickzackgruppe' type, imitating Philip II of Macedon. Stylized laureate and bearded head of Zeus to left. Rev. ▢ΛΛΛΛ Stylized horseman to left, rider devolved into hook; before, annulet-in-square; above, annulet. Dembski 1385. Flesche 568. Lanz 738. OTA 460/2. Nicely toned and sharply struck, an exceptionally attractive example of monumental Celtic style. Very light deposits on the obverse and minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
