A. Plautius, 55 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 4.00 g, 12 h), Rome. A•PLAVTIVS / AED•CVR•S•C Head of Cybele to right, wearing turreted crown and pendant earring. Rev. BACCHIVS - IVDAEVS Bacchius Judaeus (Aristobulus II, High Priest and King of Judaea) kneeling right, holding olive branch in his right hand and reins of camel standing beside him in his left. Babelon (Plautia) 13. Crawford 431/1. RBW 1540. Sydenham 932. A nicely toned and sharply struck example. The obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
