Contemporary imitation of Constantine I 'the Great' BI Nummus. Imitating Treveri, circa AD 319. IMP CONSTANTINVS MAX VG, helmeted, laureate and cuirassed bust to right / VICTORIAE LAETAE PRINC PERP, two Victories holding shield inscribed VOT PR in two lines over altar decorated with star; [ST]R(?) in exergue. Cf. RIC VII 213. 2.29g, 17mm, 12h.

Ex Nether Compton Hoard.

This hoard was discovered by Mike Pittard while metal detecting near Nether Compton, Dorset on 19th February 1989. It comprised 22,670 largely Constantinian coins and was deposited with the Yeovil Museum until 1994, after which it was returned to the finder and sold.
